AB506: “An administrator, employee, or regular volunteer of a youth service organization shall complete training in child abuse and neglect identification and training in child abuse and neglect reporting.”
The training course takes less than two hours to complete. If you have already completed the Live Scan with the Conference Office, simply send your Certificate of Completion to Joana.VanIderstein@nccsda.com.

This is a one-time requirement for the Conference; training updates may be needed in the future.
Instructions for Completing Both Training and Live Scan
1. Complete the Training Course:
- Go to NCCSDA Volunteer Training Portal.
- Select the Volunteer Training Module and click Login.
- Create an account (even if you’ve completed Live Scan or used Shield the Vulnerable previously).
- Save your password—you’ll need it to log in for training and future access.
- Check your email for a confirmation message from Mandated Reporter Training. Click the link to verify your email (link expires in 24 hours).
- Once verified, log back into the portal and start the training.
- Complete the 10-question exam (80% required to pass). You can retake it if needed.
- Download and save your Certificate of Completion.
2. Complete the Live Scan Process:
- Return to the portal and complete the Live Scan application under "Church Volunteers."
- Take the application to a UPS Store or other Live Scan facility.
- You’ll be fingerprinted and may choose not to provide your Social Security Number (this will not affect the process).
- The facility will process your information, sign the form, and return it to you.
- Pay the Live Scan fee (varies by location—check local prices).
3. Submit Documentation:
Email your Certificate of Completion and signed Live Scan copy to Joana.vanIderstein@nccsda.com.
